All guest permission forms and payment must be turned in by the deadline. Tomorrow's deadline is ONLY for students bringing non-BHS guests.

Each day of Homecoming Week, our varsity cheerleaders choose a best dressed faculty or staff member! Monday’s Festival Fit winner was Mr. Wingate, dressed for a Drive-By Truckers concert. Today’s Genre Jam Fest ended in a tie: Mrs. Cannon and Ms. Disken won with their hip-hop inspired outfits! We love seeing our BHS staff join the fun. Stay tuned for the rest of this week’s winners!

All BHS students are invited to join FCA tomorrow morning for See You at the Pole — a time for students to come together in prayer for our school, classmates, teachers, community, and nation.

September is Attendance Awareness Month. Today, names were randomly selected from a list of students that were present at school during all their assigned class periods. Congratulations to the winners of our Attendance Monday!

The Homecoming parade is Friday at 10am! Registration deadline has been extended to tomorrow, September 22 at 3 PM. Please email stefani.santos@scsb.us if you would like to participate!

It's Homecoming Week at BHS and on top of the busy calendar of events for students and staff here on campus, our community has lots of opportunities to support the Buccaneers in all of their sports both home and on the road this week!

In recognition of Heroes Day and the 25th anniversary of September 11, the BHS high school agriculture classes learned about the courageous canine heroes who served during and after the attacks of 9/11. The goal of the lesson was to explore animal related careers, animal selection, training, care, and the important roles working animals serve. Today, the lesson concluded with a special visit from Sergeant Stout and Corporal Dalton, K9 handlers with the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office. They shared valuable information about selecting the right breed and puppy for working dog service, the training process, daily care and responsibilities, and the working and retirement lives of the Sheriff’s Office K9s. BHS extends a huge thank you to Sergeant Stout, Corporal Dalton, and the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office for being such wonderful community partners. Opportunities like this expand our students’ knowledge, introduce them to potential careers after high school, and allow them to learn directly from professionals serving our community.

A huge THANK YOU to Chick-fil-A Lake City for helping make our Student Council Pregame Tailgate last Friday, September 11, such a success!

The first 100 BHS students at the tailgate were treated to a FREE Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich and drink, courtesy of Chick-fil-A and BHS Student Council!

We are incredibly thankful for community partners who are willing to invest in our students and help us create fun, positive experiences at BHS. It is community partners like you who help us make BHS great!

Get your spirit packs just in time for NEON Nights on Thursday at volleyball and Friday at football. Keep your items and recycle them for next week's Neon Dress Up day for Homecoming spirit week! Spirit packs are $5 and can be purchased from Mrs. Roberts or at all lunches Tuesday-Friday this week.

On Sunday, September 13, Branford High School proudly held the initiation ceremony for both BETA Club and National Honor Society. Our student officers did a wonderful job leading the ceremony and welcoming the newest members into these prestigious organizations. Congratulations to all of our new inductees! We are proud of your hard work, leadership, character, and commitment to excellence.

It's another huge week of opportunities to watch the Buccaneer athletic department both home and on the road! It's Neon Nights on Thursday and Friday at home for volleyball and football, as well as youth night for rec league football and cheer on Friday. Come out and cheer on the Bucs!

What a great night to be a Branford Buccaneer! We kicked off the evening with a student tailgate before Suwannee Air Rescue made an exciting fly-in delivery of the game ball. It was a powerful moment honoring the memory of September 11 during our Veterans and First Responders Night. From a packed-out student section and a great time with the band to excellent halftime performances by the band, dance team, and majorettes, the Buccaneer spirit was on full display! Our varsity cheerleaders did an amazing job cheering and keeping the crowd engaged all night long. And the icing on the cake-such an exciting game and a big 58-26 Buccaneer victory! It was truly a beautiful night to be in Branford. Thank you to everyone who helped make it so special!

Thank you to Randall Dasher and Sara Carte for your donation of lettuce transplants for our aquaponic system. The transplants were planted by the students in the recirculating system.

Anatomy just got a little sweeter! Today in Ms. Santos’s Anatomy & Physiology class, students put their knowledge of anatomical body planes to the test with a Sour Patch Kids Lab! Students used Sour Patch Kids as their “specimens” and carefully made cuts to demonstrate the sagittal, midsagittal, frontal (coronal), and transverse planes. This hands-on activity gave students a fun way to visualize how the human body can be divided and viewed from different directions. Who knew learning anatomy could be sweet, sour, and scientific?!
