What a wonderful day to be a Buccaneer! BHS was full of school spirit today as our students showed up in full force in their CAMO for tonight’s game! We had an awesome pep rally led by our Varsity Cheerleaders, with our JV Cheerleaders, Majorettes, and Band helping bring the energy! We introduced this year’s Varsity Football Team, recognized our Fall Sports Seniors, and also announced this year’s Homecoming Court, Princess Finalists, and Queen Finalists! There were plenty of games, lots of cheering, and some great class competition — and congratulations to the 8th Grade Class for winning the Spirit Stick! The fun continues tonight at Buccaneer Stadium! 6:30 PM — Fall Sports Senior Night Ceremony 7:30 PM — Varsity Football vs. Eagle’s View CAMO NIGHT! See you tonight! GO BUCS!

Communication takes practice! Students in Mrs. Roberts’ Business & Leadership classes put their communication skills to the test this week with a Blind Drawing Challenge! Working with a partner, one student had to describe a picture without showing it, while the other tried to draw it using only the directions they were given. Students worked with friends, classmates they didn’t know as well, and even took on a round where no talking was allowed! It was a fun way to see firsthand how important clear communication, active listening, teamwork, and patience are when working with others!

🫀 Anatomy Challenge! 🧠 Today in Coach Santos’s Anatomy & Physiology class, students put their anatomy knowledge to the test! Working in groups, they traced a body and then worked together to draw, label, and correctly place different bones, muscles, and organs on the human body. There were definitely a few guesses along the way 😂, but it was a fun, hands-on way to see what they already know as we get started!

Mrs. Misty Ward is preparing to begin her 15th year in education, with 14 of those years proudly spent at Branford High School. A graduate of Fargo South High School in Fargo, North Dakota, she earned an Associate of Arts degree in Journalism from Everett Community College in Washington and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Columbia College. Mrs. Ward also holds a long list of professional certifications, including Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer, Water Safety Instructor Trainer, USA Weightlifting Level 2 Coach, Adobe Certified Professional in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Animate, as well as Intuit Small Business & Entrepreneurship certification. She is currently renewing her personal trainer and group fitness instructor certifications. Her favorite subject in school was journalism, especially newspaper and yearbook.

As a student, Mrs. Ward served as Sports Editor for her school newspaper and a Yearbook Section Editor while also participating in volleyball, swimming, and track & field. If she had chosen a different career path, she says she would have loved to be a meteorologist because of her fascination with weather. Outside of school, she enjoys working out with friends, teaching spin classes, and coaching strength and fitness classes.

Mrs. Ward and her husband, Erin, have been married for 24 years and have two daughters. Madison, a 2025 Branford High School graduate, is currently attending Santa Fe College in the Radiography program. Their younger daughter, Liberty, will be a senior this year and is attending Florida Gateway College full-time through dual enrollment while balancing two part-time jobs. Their home is also filled with plenty of four-legged family members, including three dogs—Ava, Moose, and Chi Chi—and three cats: Johnny Scratch, Meine Katze, and Mary Jane.

We are thankful to have Mrs. Ward as part of the Buccaneer family. Her passion for education, dedication to students, and enthusiasm both inside and outside the classroom make her a valued member of the BHS community. 💙🧡
