Branford High School (BHS) has selected Ayden Humphries as its Student Ambassador for the 2026-2027 school year.
Humphries, a senior at BHS, is no stranger to leadership. He serves as senior class student body president and president of the school’s FFA chapter. He is also a member of Beta Club, National Honor Society and Interact, while competing in cross country, soccer and track and field.
Humphries said he was excited and somewhat surprised to learn he had been selected for the position, especially given the number of outstanding students at Branford High School.
“I felt excited and a little surprised to be nominated as this year’s Student Ambassador because we have a lot of great students for this position,” Humphries said.
As Student Ambassador, Humphries will attend Suwannee County School Board meetings and provide board members with insight into what is happening at BHS. He sees the position as an opportunity to help district leaders better understand the student experience and identify ways to improve schools.
“Lets the school board know what is going on inside the school,” Humphries said. “Letting them know helps them get a gauge on what is happening and how they can improve the schools.”
Humphries plans to connect with students across all grade levels to ensure he represents more than just his own class. With relationships throughout the student body and with faculty members, he believes he can gather a broad perspective on what is happening at BHS.
“I plan on going around and talking to the entire student population,” he said. “I have many connections to the different classes and to the teachers as well. I feel like we have a great connection here at Branford High School.”
One of the things Humphries appreciates most about BHS is its close-knit environment.
“I like how small it is here and the connections you are able to build,” he said. “It feels like a big family and everyone knows each other.”
That sense of family is also how Humphries describes the school’s culture. He said new students are welcomed into the community and quickly become part of the BHS family.
As he begins his term, Humphries is particularly excited about sharing Branford High School’s upcoming Homecoming plans and highlighting student engagement and school spirit.
Looking ahead, Humphries hopes the experience will help him grow as a communicator and leader. After graduation, he plans to pursue a master’s degree in aerospace engineering. He believes serving as Student Ambassador will provide valuable experience in time management, communication and building professional relationships.
“I feel like this role will help me by making me learn time management and communicating with higher ranking individuals and building connections,” Humphries said.
As he begins his year as Student Ambassador, Humphries has a simple message for his fellow students:
“No matter who you are, you can accomplish anything you put your mind to.”
