Jon Weisner - BHS Student Ambassador

Branford High School senior Jon Weisner has been selected to serve as the school’s Student Ambassador for the 2025-2026 school year. A standout leader both inside and outside the classroom, Weisner is eager to represent his peers and provide student input to the Suwannee County School Board.

Weisner, a 12th grader, is deeply involved in student life at Branford High. He is the team captain of the golf team, state president of the Beta Club, president of the National Honor Society, FFA reporter, and serves as student body president.

When asked about being chosen for the ambassador role, Weisner said he was inspired by last year’s ambassador, Ashely Morales. “I went to two board meetings last year and I liked the input she was able to share. I feel that student input is something the school board needs because you are working with the schools, so they need to hear how students at the schools feel about the decisions being made,” Weisner said. “Being that voice and being able to voice their concerns is a big deal for me.”

Weisner believes a successful ambassador must be personable, approachable, and able to represent all students. “Someone who is well spoken, someone who has the ability to go around the schools and is personable. You can’t be an ambassador if you can’t represent everyone,” he said.

As he prepares for the year ahead, Weisner is excited to bring both energy and perspective to the board meetings. “Apart from my input, I want to bring the energy. I like to get people excited and making people laugh,” he said.

Known for his positivity, Weisner describes Branford High’s culture in one word: family. “The thing I love about Branford, we are diverse personality wise. The culture I see is a friendly group,” he explained.

Weisner’s goals as an ambassador are centered on advocacy and impact. “If you feel like you have a problem with something at school you can come up to me and I can personally tell the school board what is going on and we can try to fix it and a change can be made. I want to make students’ lives a little bit easier and fix their problems,” he said.

Looking ahead, Weisner plans to attend the University of Florida and major in agricultural engineering, while also considering a future in politics and the military. He believes this ambassador role will give him valuable experience. “I consider this like a government experience. You get to see how the process goes down and I think that is a valuable experience for me because I might pursue politics later in my life,” he said.

Above all, Weisner wants to spread kindness. “When you leave BHS, you need to understand this is your family. This is your town and this is your school. I want to spread the love.”
